Cookies
This site sets no cookies and keeps nothing that identifies you. There is no banner because there is nothing to consent to.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. Sites use them to keep you signed in, remember settings, measure traffic or follow you across the web for advertising. Local storage and session storage do a similar job without the file.
What this site sets
Nothing. As of the date above:
- No first-party cookies, essential or otherwise.
- No third-party cookies. No third-party script runs on any page.
- No local storage, session storage or other browser storage used to identify you.
- No analytics, advertising or social-media cookies of any kind.
One entry in session storage, named specter-intro, remembers that the opening animation has already played, so it does not play again on every page. It holds the value 1, identifies nothing, is never sent anywhere, and disappears when you close the tab.
The contact form remembers, in the page itself and only while the page is open, the moment it was opened. That is used to tell a person from a script. It is not stored and it does not survive leaving the page.
Check for yourself
Open your browser's developer tools, choose the Application or Storage panel, and look under Cookies and Local Storage for this site. Both lists are empty; Session Storage holds only the specter-intro entry described above.
If that ever changes
If a strictly necessary cookie is ever needed, for example to keep a step in a multi-page form, it will be listed here with its name, purpose and lifetime before it ships. If anything that is not strictly necessary is ever proposed, it will not be set until you have been asked and have said yes, and this page and the privacy policy will be updated first. There are no plans for either.
How to control cookies anyway
You can block or clear cookies in your browser at any time. Specter Industries works fully with cookies blocked.
- Safari: Settings, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data.
- Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies.
- Firefox: Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies and Site Data.
- Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions.
